Operations

The diner watches the bill being built.

A second screen facing the guest, showing every line as the cashier rings it up, then the tax, the total and how to pay. It is a mirror of the till, not another till — it has no login and cannot change an order.

01The screen

What the guest sees while they wait.

Large type, one line per item, the running total, and — when the cashier arms the payment — the amount and the QR to pay it with.

02What you can do

A small module that removes an argument.

Show the order as it is taken

Each item, each quantity, each note appears on the guest's side the moment the cashier adds it.

Show the tax before payment

Subtotal, discount, CGST and SGST, round-off and the total — the same breakdown the printed bill will carry.

Prompt the payment

A UPI QR for the exact amount, or a clear cash prompt with what was received and what is owed back.

Update differentially

Swap an item and the screen shows what came off, what went on, and whether money is owed either way.

Idle on your branding

Between orders it rests on the restaurant's own name and mark, then resets itself after the thank-you.

Stay a read-only mirror

No login, no authenticated calls, and no customer name, phone or address ever sent to the screen.

03When it changes

Changes are shown, not silently applied.

A guest changes their mind after paying, or the kitchen is out of something. Swapping the line in the till pushes the difference to the screen in front of them — what came off, what went on, and who owes what.

  • The replaced item is struck through beside the one that took its place
  • Already paid and the new total sit above the difference, so the arithmetic is visible
  • A difference in the guest's favour reads as a refund at the counter
  • A difference the other way gets its own scan-to-pay QR, once the swap is confirmed
  • Split settlements show each leg, including cash received and change due

04Where it runs

Any spare screen you already own.

Plug a monitor into the billing machine, or stand a tablet on the counter facing the guest. The display is a browser tab; there is no box to buy and nothing to install.

  • Opens on the second monitor by itself when one is plugged in
  • Falls back to a movable pop-out window on a single-screen machine
  • Landscape or portrait — the layout stacks rather than shrinking the type
  • Opened from the till, or from an order detail when the guest pays after eating
  • Resets to your idle screen on its own once the thank-you has shown
State 01 Welcome The restaurant's own name and mark, between orders
State 02 Ordering Lines and the running total, updating as the cashier rings up
State 03 Payment Amount due, the QR to scan, or the cash received and change
State 04 Thank you Order token shown, then back to Welcome on its own

Four states, no operator

06Roles

The screen itself has no account.

  • The display No login, no permissions, no writes. It never calls an authenticated endpoint and cannot add, remove or settle anything. If someone walks off with the tablet, they have a screen that shows the front of a restaurant.
  • Cashier Opens it from the till. What they ring up is what the guest reads, including the discount they applied and the payment method they armed.
  • Waiter & Supervisor Opens it from an order. For a guest who eats first and pays later, the display can be armed from that order's detail page instead of the till.
  • Owner & Manager Owns what it shows. Restaurant branding, the UPI details behind the QR and the payment settings the screen reflects are all set in the back office.

Permissions are atomic and checked on every endpoint. A role is a named bundle of them, not a rank — and the display holds none of them, which is exactly the point.

See it running on your menu.

We set the restaurant up with you — menu, tables, staff and printers — rather than handing over a login and wishing you luck.
